How do I renew my vehicle registration after a lapse in insurance in Pennsylvania?

Approx. 8 months ago I let the insurance on my car lapse due to financial hardship. My registration expired a month later, as in Pennsylvania you need proof of insurance to renew the registration. I recently purchased insurance for the vehicle again; how do I renew the registration? I never received any letters from the PA DMV about turning in the plate, so I still have it. I didn't even know you had to turn them in until recently! Is this going to cause a problem?

1. You just go to the DMV with the registration and your new proof of insurance. You might have to pay penalties. You can also go to the DMV website in your state.
