How effective it a contract that is written by people who are not lawyers?
Will a contract that is not writen in legal jargin, yet clearly lists the intent of both parties, generaly be upheld in court? Does it help to have it noterized?

- If it is signed by BOTH Parties then it is Legally Binding, of course having it Notarized adds that much more Credibility to the Document, but not having it Notarized does not dimish it's Legality.
- How contracts are interpreted varies from state to state and whether it will be interpreted in state or federal court. Legal jargon is not necessary, but some silly sounding words are understood by all lawyers and judges so they save time. In my state contracts executed before a notary and two witnesses are self proving, but whether notaries are necessary varies with the jurisdiction. Of course none of this means much unless there is a disagreement and the matter is decided by a court. If everyone agrees as to what is written, and performs as agreed, the contract serves its purpose. Roy L
