How long does it take to boil about 1lb of chicken tenders?

I am making a chicken pot pie and I have to boil 1lb of chicken tenders first and I'm a little stuck.

  1. If the water is boiling and salted when you add them, about 8 min. Reduce heat to med and stir occasionally, do not rapidly boil, just simmer once chicken is in there.
  2. Sorry to not give a straight answer, but I wouldn't use chicken tenders first of all (too expensive and not good enough for the price)...I would use the thighs or legs...less expensive and more flavorful, if you prefer white meat, use breasts, but just buying tenderloins will be really expensive and pointless. I wouldn't boil them either, because it's too harsh. Poach them, or even simmer them, or you won't have any flavor left. With a poach, the water is at the point right before it bubbles, and a simmer is in the middle of a poach and boil...there will be a lot of bubbles, but it won't be rapid. If you can, get chicken and poach it in stock or something like that. Otherwise, if you have to boil...it won't take too long, just until the pink is gone, maybe 5 minutes, tops.
  3. I would boil them about 10 minutes and check them for doneness. make sure to add onion, carrot and celery to the water to add more flavor to the chicken too.
